Chocolate and period cramps...not so sweet π©
Dark chocolate |
It was a normal school day. I took breakfast, hot chocolate
and bread, and prepared to go to class as usual. I left my room and headed to
class. It was a math’s class, probability and statistics II, to be exact. If
you know this unit you know how crucial it is to pay attention or else, it will
end in premium tears .My period had just started. It was all going well until cramps knocked the
door. It was mild at first. I would tolerate the pain until the end of the
class. Unanticipatedly, the pain became so severe, that I couldn’t write or
even hear what the lecturer was saying. Heeee! I started feeling nauseated and
dizzy. I thought I was going to faint. I told myself (nikajiambia) to relax,
and lie on the desk. It didn’t help!
There’s that thing in movies they use when they are
electrocuting someone, the knob they use to increase the current with. It felt
like someone had that thing and was accelerating the pain as time went by. It
was terrible.
I gathered my courage and stepped out, hoping I wouldn’t
faint. The nearest door out of the class was in front. I imagined how it would
become a scene if I fainted on my way out. The lecturer would never forget me.
The girl who fainted in class.
I managed to step out of the lecture room and went to the ladies.
One thing I love about our school is that most washrooms are always clean. Luckily
there was no one else for the entire time I was there. I was feeling weak and I
felt the nausea wasn’t making it better. I puked. Honestly. I thought I would die.
After that I felt better, looked for an empty class to lie
down on the bench and waited for the class to end.
I normally didn’t get such severe cramps. I figured it was
something I had eaten. Then it hit me! I had taken chocolate (cocoa) in the
morning.
Does chocolate cause
period cramps? Yes, my dears, it does.
But, a few weeks ago a friend of mine told me that dark
chocolate helps relieve period pain. So I did a kasmall research. Dark
chocolate is high in potassium which helps in muscle function, good for cramps.
Girls, it’s normal to have chocolate cravings during your
period but, make sure you eat chocolate with 70% cocoa in it. Otherwise it will be hell for you.
Guys if you want to surprise her when it’s that time of the
month with a care package, be sure of the chocolate in it otherwise you will
kiiiillll her! I am not sure it happens to everyone though, just be careful.

Had a similar experience but it was during an exam... Digital Electronics! I'm gonna pass on the dark chocolate during my period, I was scarred for life! I can only have chocolate pre-period
